Care outside of hospitals and prisons

Trained and accredited humanist pastoral support volunteers can be found in many hospitals and prisons, and as Humanist Care grows, we aim to provide humanist pastoral support to people in even more avenues, so that non-religious people can benefit from the kinds of care available to religious people via chaplains. We feel it’s important that non-religious people in all these places have an alternative to religious pastoral support which reflects their own attitudes and values.

At present, outside of hospitals and prisons, we have developed a programme for providing care for armed forces personnel, and we are looking to expand the availability of non-religious pastoral care to students in universities across the country.
